Reported breaking news and offered an American viewpoint in daily studio commentary for Japanese primetime and morning news broadcasts. Produced, wrote, and reported dozens of features ranging from effects of an oil spill on a remote Alaskan Indian village to nightly arson in Detroit. Covered two presidential campaigns and interviewed numerous prominent Americans including Bill Clinton, Gerald Ford and Henry Kissinger. A Yomiuri television critic called me "the rare journalist who speaks his mind.” Interpreted for Ronald Reagan during his 1989 visit to Japan.
